Toenail fungus can result from factors like pedicures, nail injuries, or wearing closed shoes. It causes nails to become thick, brittle, and discolored. Left untreated, it can spread and permanently damage nails. Oral medications may take 2-3 months to work, with only a 50% success rate, while topical treatments can take 12-24 months but often fail to penetrate the nail.

The Cutera GenesisPlus laser treats toenail fungus by heating the infected nail bed, killing the fungus without harming surrounding tissue.
